Singapore Court Orders Crypto Figures to Stop Defaming Curve

Quick Summary: A Singapore court has barred two crypto figures from making defamatory claims against a Curve contributor following a $9.6 million DeFi exploit in 2025.

A court in Singapore has issued an order prohibiting two individuals in the crypto industry from making threatening or defamatory statements against a contributor linked to Curve Finance. The order, dated March 24, was issued by Singapore’s Protection from Harassment Court and bars the respondents from posting allegations of fraud or spreading false information about the claimant. The claimant is identified in court documents as Wang Haoming, who appears to be the Curve contributor known online as “Haowi Wong.”

The two respondents named in the order are Wang Lei, founder of crypto wallet OneKey, and the operator of the X account known as “web3feng.” The court prohibits both individuals from sending threatening, abusive, or insulting communications directed at Wang Haoming. They are also required to pay a combined total of 2,500 Singapore dollars, approximately $1,900, in compensation and costs by April 7.

The legal action stems from online accusations that surfaced following the June 2025 exploit of stablecoin protocol Resupply. That incident resulted in losses of approximately $9.6 million after an attacker exploited a price manipulation vulnerability in Resupply’s wstUSR market, draining millions of dollars from the protocol. The exploit drew significant attention across the decentralized finance sector.

Some participants in the market associated the incident with Curve-related infrastructure, citing the use of cvcrvUSD and vault integrations. However, Curve founder Michael Egorov previously stated that no Curve personnel were involved in working on the Resupply project. Despite this, the accusations directed at Wang Haoming intensified in the aftermath of the exploit, ultimately leading to formal legal proceedings.

Wang Haoming said in a statement that the situation escalated significantly following the exploit, resulting in continuous attacks and serious allegations from Wang Lei and the operator of the web3feng account. He emphasized the broader impact such conduct can have within the industry. “In an industry where trust is of fundamental importance, the repeated spread of misinformation carries real consequences,” he said.

Curve Finance also weighed in on the matter, telling Cointelegraph that disputes in the crypto sector can cross the line between legitimate criticism and outright falsehoods and defamation. The organization noted that distorted claims can erode trust and cause harm to participants across the ecosystem. Wang Lei and the user behind the web3feng account did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
